COVID-19, CDC Recommendations and Changes at GGLehi

I always knew I didn’t like the game Pandemic, and it turns out living through it is even worse.

Coronavirus is a serious concern, especially for at-risk members of our community.
Last week, we started making changes at our store including:

  • Temperature Checks at the Door
  • Hand Sanitizer at every table, the Judge Station and the Front Counter
  • Clorox Wipes on every handle, every hour
  • Max Cap for the Play Area

Now we have additional guidelines from the CDC, including a recommendation to cancel or postpone gatherings with 50 or more people for the next 8 weeks.
And guidelines from the White House, including a recommendation to avoid social gatherings of more than 10 people for the next 10 – 15 days.

Game Grid Lehi is committed to making sure that our community is not put at additional risk.

Starting on Tuesday, March 17th,
Game Grid Lehi will be implementing the following:

  • Play Area Closed Until Wednesday, April 1st
    • Pending any other recommendations, guidelines or regulations, Game Grid Lehi will be taking a minimum of a 15 day hiatus from running events.

This was not an easy decision to make.
As everyone knows, we run most of our events for free, and I view them as a service that we offer to the community that we love and care about. I’m sure I have told this story far too many times, but to make it short – aside from family, all of the groomsmen at my wedding were people that I met through Magic, this community matters to me in a very real, very deep way.
I tried to find a way to make it safe for players to get together, to be with friends, and continue to find a haven from the problems of the world.
When the CDC issued the guideline for groups of 50 or less, I thought we could make it work, but then the White House recommended 10 or less, then Salt Lake shut down dine-in service at all food service locations.
The issue is far too serious for us to play around. No matter how much I love hosting our wonderful community, I also care too much to put anyone at additional risk.

  • Hand Sanitizer Use Required
    • Before & After interacting with Game Grid Staff

The best way to prevent illness is to prevent being exposed. If you are planning to visit us at Game Grid, then cleaning your hands is mandatory.
Clean hands are the #1 recommendation by the CDC for preventing the spread of any virus.
Hand Sanitizer will be available from our anyone on our staff and at the front counter.

For the duration of any Government recommendations that would impact your ability to come to the store, Game Grid Lehi is offering free shipping.

All of our inventory is available at store.gglehi.com
Just leave a note in your order, or send an email to staff@gglehi.com, and we’ll get your order out the door by the next day.

We will have additional details about our April schedule of events posted as more information becomes available.
Until then, thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope that you are healthy and happy, I hope that this is an overreaction on my part, and I hope that things are back to normal soon.
For now, take care of yourself, your family and your community – we’re all in this together.

Thanks
Jordan
